Brass,
Bronze, and Aluminum Castings
Prototypes, short runs and high production. We use the latest technology and a
best-in-class production control system to assure you of better parts for less
money with the shortest possible lead times. We make it easy to do business with us.
Best In Class
Our vision is to be best in class in the market segments we serve. We want to be measured and
recognized as the best by our customers, suppliers, employees and community.
Since 1869
We are experienced and we have been experienced for a long, long time.
We are not just the oldest maker of brass, bronze, and aluminum sand castings, we
are the oldest manufacturer of anything in the state of Minnesota.
Lean. Green. Not a Bit Mean.
We are lean practitioners. We continually strive to remove the waste
from our process. We use the tools of lean to continually improve our
processes and product. We are currently in a partnership with Enterprise
Minnesota, The Minnesota Technical Assistance Partnership, The Minnesota
Job Skills Partnership, The Minnesota Department of Economic Development
and four other foundries to research and implement a concept called Lean
Green 2.0. Read more on our Lean Manufacturing page.
Size Matters

That’s living large.
Shortest Lead Times in the Industry
If you have an order flow that qualifies for our kanban program, we can
have parts to you the same day you release them. That’s zero days of
leadtime.
For standard no core sand castings, if you get
your order in by 2 p.m. Monday, we will ship them on Thursday of the following
week. Truth is, we can do it faster if you need it. If your business model depends on
fast turnaround to your customer we can help. Call us. If you want to
partner to figure out how to get castings before you order them, we're
in.
On Time Delivery.
Time is money.
Because we control every step of our process with precision, we know how long it
takes to get the parts to you. When we promise a delivery date we take that
promise seriously. We do everything in our power to make it happen. And it does.
Our customers consistently tell us we rank among the best of their
suppliers in delivery performance.
ISO 9001:2008
We are registered to ISO 9001:2008 for the manufacture of brass, bronze and
aluminum castings. We are TS 16949 and
AS 9100/NADCAP compliant. Because we think we benefit as much as you do from
Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) , we do PPAPs free of charge.
We’re Repetitive
Repeatability comes from doing each step of each process precisely the same way
whether it is done daily or once a year. We have the most thoroughly documented
production control system in the industry. That"s not bragging. That"s a fact.
Taking On the Toughest Challenges
Specializing in land and maritime military systems and complex, highly
demanding,
industrial castings. We serve over 100 NAICS codes. Our castings are used in a wide variety of
applications including those requiring CE marking, NDT testing, sampling
schedules, chemical and physical certifications, plating, polishing, or machining.
Impellers and Pumps
The highest quality manufacturer of double shroud, compound-curved-vane
impellers in the country. Suction casings, volutes, discharge fittings - we know
them and do them well. Smooth, accurate core processes form vane surfaces that
result in higher head pressures and less cavitation, often without the usual
secondary vane polishing operations. It just gets better and better.
Pressure Equipment
We make castings certified to the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED). Our parts
bear the CE mark for export to Europe and the rest of the world. ISO 9001:2008 registration enables us and
our customers to perform in process certification of pressure components. This
eliminates the costly need to hire a notifying body to perform on site
inspections.
Project Management
We have the systems and expertise to provide turnkey solutions for your project.
We work with value-added partners for machined castings, polishing, plating,
painting, powder coating, heat treatment, and assembly. We can provide one stop
shopping or any intermediate level of completion that is appropriate for your
project. We have well over a century of knowledge and experience in land and
maritime weapons systems and platforms. Our foundry produces castings for some
of the most advanced weapons systems in use by our armed forces today. ISO
9001:2008 certification prequalifies SPBA for DoD supplier approval.
Tough casting design? Bring it on.
We have the expertise and systems to turn your most difficult designs into
high quality components. SPBA specializes in non-ferrous castings that require a
little or a lot extra. Our abilities in extremely complex, difficult to
cast bronze and aluminum castings carry over into all of our work. We bring value
to help you be more profitable.
Continuous Improvement
Every day in every way we want to be better than we were before. If you have
taken that approach you know it can be a struggle some days. we are not perfect,
just seeking to be. We want to learn, grow, invest, change, and challenge
ourselves. We are least comfortable with the status quo. Not changing makes us
very uncomfortable.
