SAND CASTING TOLERANCES On the following pages is a discussion of common tolerance issues related to sand casting. These standards are excerpted directly from the Aluminum Association's handbook titled Standards for Aluminum Sand and Permanent Mold Castings with the permission of the Aluminum Association. We are grateful for their help. Bear in mind that these are general industry standards and many foundries, including St. Paul Brass and Aluminum Foundry, are capable of better. Consult your foundry for more specifics. Also remember that the if you get too fussy the cost may go up.
